Baby boys are born with a piece of skin called the foreskin covering the end of their
penis. Circumcision is the removal of this piece of skin so that the glans underneath
becomes permanently exposed.
So why on earth would anyone want to remove this piece of skin? Good question and
one this web site hopes to answer comprehensively.
The foreskin provided valuable protection to the delicate glans many years ago, before
we all wore trousers and underpants. Today this protection is no longer necessary
since your baby’s nappy and later his underpants adequately perform this function.
If that was all there was to it nobody would bother having their baby boy circumcised.
Unfortunately, the now redundant foreskin causes many problems.
In this section of my website I will give you full details of:
The problems that can be caused by a foreskin
Ten common myths about circumcision, with my counter-arguments
The facts about circumcision
The wonderful benefits of being circumcised
The methods that are used to perform a circumcision
And I discuss the ethics of different aspects of circumcision.
